Establishment Plan of Africa Industrial Research Center (AIRC) of
National Chung Hsing University (NCHU)
A. Purpose of NCHU to establish
the African Industry Research Center
1. The Kingdom of Eswatini is
considered as the most important foundation for the layout of the
African market. AIRC want to help Taiwanese Enterprises to establish the
cooperative relationships and consider the development potential from
the country's industries, following items are priority: agricultural
technology, power and transportation construction, and advanced talent
training.
2. To assist the related industries
of Taiwan to grasp the opportunity of African business and to expand to
other friendly countries.
B. Organizational structure
The mission of this center is to be
responsible for the integration and implementation of African
industry-related teaching and research development, promotion services
and talent cultivation.
C. Business Scope
National Chung Hsing University is
a comprehensive university with strengths in agriculture, life sciences,
and engineering. Combining the school's research, development
capabilities and educational resources, it assists Taiwanese businessmen
in the Kingdom of Eswatini and other friendly countries in Africa. The
working items are listed as follows:
1. Improvement of the crop mass
production.
2. Mass production of cash crops,
vegetables and fruits.
3. Mass production planning for the
livestock industry.
4. Design and planning of
aquaculture systems.
5. Agricultural mechanization and
development of protected culture.
6. Introduction of basic industry
(civil engineering, machinery manufacturing, electrical engineering,
energy engineering, livelihood industry, petrochemical equipment, etc.)
and talent training.
7. Integrated management system of
the agriculture, fishery and animal husbandry and industrialization
planning.
8. Training of advanced researchers
and intermediate management.
9. Training of industrial
technicians (agriculture, livestock, light industry, information
industry, energy industry, etc.).
10. Investigation and development
of industrialized plants and animals.
11. Investigation of social,
cultural, political, and economic issues in African countries and
suggestions for Taiwan's industrial development in Africa.
II.
Recent (2020-2022) work items
A. Industrial development
1. Investigation of investment
opportunities for agriculture and food processing industries of the
Kingdom of Eswatini.
2. Investigation of development
opportunities for light industry, people's livelihood industry, and
medical industry of the Kingdom of Eswatini. Then to activate the
Biotechnology Park in the Kingdom of Eswatini..
3. Investigation of economic growth
of East and South Africa and evaluate the opportunity of the Taiwanese
Investment.
4. Investigation of Economic Growth
of West Africa and evaluate the opportunity of the Taiwanese Investment.
B. Information Collection
1. Collection of the information
for Chinese Academic Units related to African studies, for example the
Center for African Studies in the Peking University
2. Collection of the information
for Chinese Industry Investment in Africa, includes Agriculture,
Minerals, Industry, and Commerce.
3. Collection of the information
for the status of Taiwanese investment and Africa industries.
4. Held the seminars about the
opportunity of the Taiwanese Industrial Development in Africa
C. Education and training
National Chung Hsing University
establishes an Eswatini Bachelor Program, is called “The International
Bachelor Program of Eswatini”.

(1). Agriculture-
Agriculture: agronomy,
horticulture, soil fertilizer, pests and diseases, agricultural
machinery, protected culture.
Livestock: Breeding, production,
processing, livestock management.
Aquaculture: breeding, production,
feed production, fish processing.
(2). Engineering-
Civil, Mechanical, Industrial,
Power Applications
4. 2 years at Chung Hsing
University, the teaching is all in English.
5. Arrange internship courses in
winter and summer vacations with a received internship salary
6. National Chung Hsing University
hires an Eswatini professor as the class tutor (pay by National Chung
Hsing University)
7. Examples of the cooperation
National Chung Hsing University has
a bird and poultry evolution and genomics research center, and has a
gene bank of chicken breeds around the world. Cooperation with the
Kingdom of Eswatini can enrich this gene bank. With co-breeding, new
varieties of poultries could be breed.
